2009-07-15 - 7:22 p.m. A few weeks ago, I drove by a low-income neighborhood and saw many churches there. My initial thought was... oh it's so great that there are so many churches serving the people here. But then another thought came to my mind... what if most of the attendants aren't from this neighborhood but are from places far away. They don't know and aren't interested in the needs of this neighborhood but are only interested in their own needs. This latter thought came to me because it's describing me and my church! I don't live around Chinatown or Grange Park. I don't live anywhere near downtown. I live far away in Scarborough. And it's not just me. Many others who go to my church are like me. We minister to ourselves but not to those who live right beside our church. Well maybe we do do a better job for the university students. maybe it's time for me to live, work, serve & attend church in Scarborough.
